The release of “your toy is broken”, the 5 song mini cd, made Af-b sound on important national radio stations. highlighting the excellence feedback received from several radio stars like Carlos Pina or Josep Mª Carrasco,that from the very first moment were attracted by the young but serious sound of the band. Thanks to many interviews and live acts Afb was beginning to be celebrated as the new promise of tomorrow.
In 1999 Af-b record a 2 song demo. That was the proof of the bands potential. International magazines showed interest in the band, like Rocksound which included the track ” winner or looser” on the special metal issue. With other big names like Machine Head, Korn, Disturbed etc. That same year they played on the prestigious music contest Villa de Bilbao ” where they won the second price. At that time they also shared stage with Sugar Ray and the British band Pulkas.
2001 finally they reached what they were looking for Nu Metal records (Shark Records), a German company, decide to sign up the band after listening to their new demo recorded last summer and after a fast meeting in Palma de Mallorca next November, Af-b went to record to the legendary Mohrmann Tonstudios in Bochum ( Germany) with Detlef Morhmann, same place were earlier bands like Kreator, Holy Mother, Liquido, ...also passed. The recordings will finalize with twelve tracks and will be distributed around Europe. It was to be released in April 02, except in Spain where the releasing was deleted until July.
In April also, Af-b leaves for the first time Spain for a mini tour through France. The group had an important correspondence on each of the concerts .But not everything was counting glory, the same week the cd was released in Spain, Toni, the singer, decides to leave the band. A couple of months later the band has their current formation. David ,who was up to now the bass player, after tasting through many others, will from now on be the new front man and Roger, a long term friend will take care of the 4 strings. Straight after, they tape a new 4 theme demo for their label as an advance for their second album.
Af-b appear in the magazine Rocksound on a 4 pages special also including one song on a demo CD to present the new formation and new album. On December 12th the first concert with the new formation takes place sponsored by Rocksound and the cloth label Eastpak, through Spain. The album, “The first emotion”. was named best album of the year 2002 by Carlos Pina in the magazine HeavyRock ,and reaches between the 100 best albums of the year on the international ranking in the French edition of Rocksound magazine. They receive good international credits from all over and Afb starts their new year with open doors in Europe. In 2003 Af- b recovers from not being able to play many gigs the year before by playing 3 times more then 2002.
The first concert in the outsides of Barcelona City was sold out by over a 1000 people, also they played at the prestige Spanish festival Viña Rock and later at the Asituna Rock in Cordoba, Spain. In July and August the second album will be taped in Bochum, Germany. Again with Detlef “Deti”Mohrmann who will co produces the album together with the band. The album will have 11 titles and will be distributed all over Europe, in September. You’re in front of the most promising band of the last past years all which is left to do is wait.
