Amon Amarth photo
Amon Amarth was created in 1992 when the well-known underground band Scum (which had existed since 1988) changed their name. The name Amon Amarth is taken from Tolkien´s famous Lord Of The Ring trilogy and means the mighty mountain of doom. The line-up at this point was Nico on drums, Ted on bass, Anders and Olavi on guitars and Johan on vocals. In the summer of 1993 the band entered Studio Lagret to record their first demo called "Thor Arise" also including a demo of Black Sabbath´s "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". Due to the real bad sound quality the demo was never released. In March 1994 the band once again entered the same studio to record a demo with a real sound engineer, resulting in the released of "Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter". If was received very well and the 1000 copies dold out quickly.
