Sinister. Ominous. Invoking and Archaic. The dark, foreboding craft of ANCIENT MALUS was initially conceived in 2002, by guitarist/songwriter Steve Markowski. Departing from the typical death metal that plagued his previous musical endeavors since 1998, Markowski’s newly reformed band managed to release their first demo, “Blood of the War,” in 2004. Several demos (2004-2009), lineup changes and live assaults followed, including a performance at the “Milwaukee Metal Fest XIX.”
Despite several setbacks, due to undedicated and unknowledgeable members, the sheer defiance of Ancient Malus has proven that the band is not ready to let up. With drummer Alex Carrillo, Ander M. on keyboards/synthesizers, former keyboardist, Samuel Garza, added to rankings as vocalist, and the new edition of Santos Garcia on bass, the flames of hell beckon; the time for “Unyielding Wrath,” has arrived.
Over the past eight years, ANCIENT MALUS has had the honor to perform alongside many great acts such as: Dark Funeral, Enslaved, Kult ov Azazel, Macabre, Moonspell, Mortician, Secrets of the Moon, Six Feet Under, Therion, Thornspawn, and Vital Remains.
