Band biography
Angra photo
The unique Brazilian progressive metal band Angra was formed in Brazil in November of 1991 by five young men who all shared a passion for intense and technical music. They recorded a demo tape in 1992 before releasing their debut album "Angels Cry" in 1993 which led to commercial success both in Brazil and Europe. They mixed traditional power metal with classical and folk music influences. In 2000 all but two members (Loureiro and Bittencourt) left the band due to some conflicts over a new management for the band. A new line-up was soon established while the other three formed the band Shaman.
