Animus Herilis has been created by Dagons (vocals), Daalberith (guitar/bass) and F. (batterie) in 1993. In 1996 Nisroch is welcomed as 2nd guitarist with a new drummer.
After the rehearsal tape recorded in 1997, new line-up problems appeared and the 2 latest members of the band are fired from the band. Animus Herilis decided to work with a drums-machine...
In 2000, Nisroch is back in the band. In 2002, the demo "Mater Tenebrarum", is released through French label Drakkar Productions. The tape that contained 4 titles and a Beherit's cover will help the band to spread its name through the Black Metal scene. Soon after, Bass-player Körös (from Nihilistic Kaos) is joining the band.
In 2003, Forgotten Wisdom Prod released a 3 tracks EP called "Salvatio Regni". In the same time, the both demos of the band are reunited on the same tape, with a bonus track (Evil/Mercyful Fate) by Korosiv Distribution.
In September 2005, the debut album of Animus Herilis, "Recipere Ferum" is released by Oaken Shield.
