The French Arkhon Infastus is one of the most extreme and controversial black metal bands in the world. They were formed by a number of metal musicians who had a past in different French underground bands. The two founding members D. Deviant and 666 Torturer used to play with the French band Osculum Infame but they wanted to play more violent and satanic black metal and therefore in 1997 created Arkhon Infaustus whose image is a mixture of satanism and sexual perversion. 1998 they recorded a demo tape which was re-released as the mini-cd "In Sperma Infernum" on the Cacophonous sublabel Mordgrimm Records. In 1999 Hellblaster joined the band on drums and they soon after that recorded 2 new studio tracks that were released as a 7" EP on the now defunct SpikeKult Records. This EP caught the eye of several record labels. Among them were the French Osmose Productions who signed the band and in December 2000 they recorded their debut album "Hell Injection" which was released in the summer of 2001. The band name consists of "Arkhon" which means "prince" in greek and "Infaustus" which means "sombre, evil" in latin.
