At The Gates is a legendary melodic death/thrash metal band from Sweden and one of the founders of the well-known Gothenburg sound. The band was formed in 1990 by Tomas Lindberg, Anders Björler, Adrian Erlandsson, Jonas Björler and Alf Svensson after the split up of the old band Grotesque. In 1991 they released their first MLP called "Gardens Of Grief". In 1993 Alf Svensson left the band since he wanted to make different styles of music. He went on to form his own band Oxiplegatz. The band finally split up in September 1996 after having
been on five tours in less than a year. The band members has since then been playing with other bands, the most famous being The Haunted and Cradle of Filth.
