Avantasia is the solo project of Tobias Sammet from the well-known German power metal band Edguy. He had always wanted to do a big metal/rock opera with lots of different vocalists and he finally got the chance of doing so. The material for the album he wrote mostly on tour while waiting in the tour bus.
