Azotic Reign first came to life in 1989 in Tierp, Sweden. Back then they were called Black Crusader but in 1991 they changed their name to Azotic Reign. Bands like Slayer, Metallica and Kreator were big influences at this time. In September 1991 they recorded their first demo and before the year had come to an end they played a live show in Tierp together with Hexenhaus and Fallen Angel.
In 1992 the band went through a big line-up change and in 1993 they recorded their second demo with the new line-up. This demo was sent to a record company from Germany called In Line Music. The guitarists went down to Germany but no deal was signed. In 1994 they did some more live shows in Tierp and they also recorded a new demo which was released in November.
In 1995 they did a show at the Hardrock Club in Uppsala and a few more in their home town of Tierp. They also played at the Boulugner Fest in Gävle that year. In December they recorded a new demo which was never released. During the years 1996-1998 a lot of bass players and drummers were tried out but none of them worked out for different reasons.
In 1998 the band finally found a drummer who would stick with them and they started rehearsing in Sandviken. The band recorded some new songs and in September they went into the studio together with Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Misery Loves Company etc.) to record the mini cd "Beyond The Blood". The release party was held at the club "Metal Heaven" in Forsbacka, Sweden.
In May 1999 the band signed a record deal with Germany's Iron Glory Records. The band was also in contact with other labels like Noise, Yperano, Shiver and Massacre but decided to stay with Iron Glory. On October 9th they travelled to Bollnäs to record their first full length album in Studio Sound Creation with Per Ryberg. Twelve days later they were finished. The album was released in the year 2000.
