Black Dawn is an old-school black metal act from Finland that formed in 1992 under the moniker Nocturnal Feast. In November that very year they recorded their first demo. In early 1993 they changed their name to Black Dawn and in May 1993 they recorded a second demo. In 1994 the band members drifted apart and the band dissolved only to be resurrected once again in the autumn of 1995. In March 1996 a rehearsal demo was recorded but never released. During the first months of 1997 the band fell apart once again with only founding members Wrath and Cauldron remaining. New members were however found before the summer. During the Easter weekend in 1998 a promo was recorded and found its way over to Necropolis Records who signed the band. During 2000 the debut album was recorded. Since there was already a New York based band who held legal claim to the band name Black Dawn they altered their band name to The True Black Dawn in early 2002.
