Blotted Science is a technical extreme metal project originally created during 2005 as The Machinations Of Dementia by guitarist Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Spastic Ink) and bassist Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse). At first Lamb Of God skinbasher Chris Adler took part in the project but he would be forced to exit in December due to other commitments.
In late January 2006 the duo welcomed new drummer Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal) into the fold. At this point they also announced the transformation into Blotted Science, planning to use "The Machinations Of Dementia" as the title of their debut album instead. In March Jarzombek would team up with original drummer Chris Adler for a one-off studio collaboration to be included on Magna Carta's collection "Drum Nation Vol. 3", a track supposedly sounding like a mix between Lamb Of God and Spastic Ink.
In late July or early August Derek Roddy told the band that he had to bow out because of lack of time since he was writing a book and had a clinic tour coming up. By mid August he had been replaced by Charlie Zeleny of Behold... The Arctopus. In March 2007 they were putting the final touches on the album.
