Cannibal Corpse photo
Cannibal Corpse has grown to become one of the leading American death metal acts with their gore-oriented and horror inspired lyrics that has caused quite a lot of organizations and even the politician Bob Dole to react. With the appearance in the Jim Carey movie "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" in 1994 they have also entered into the minds mainstream audience. If I'm not wrong I think that Cher's daughter (Cheryl?) is or was a big fan of Cannibal Corpse.

The band was originally formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1989 when two bands called Tirant Sin and Beyond Death broke up. The new band called Cannibal Corpse quickly recorded a self-titled demo in Niagara Falls, New York which was just as quickly noticed by Metal Blade Records who signed them right away. Since then the band have undergone a few line-up changes but their sound has been very similar on each new album.
