Carcass is one of the most important metal bands ever and they were one of the creators of the whole death metal / grindcore scene. The band formed in 1985 and recorded a demo. The band was soon put to sleep though since the original vocalist Sanjiv left the band. Bill Steer joined Napalm Death for a while but in 1987 the band reformed again as a trio. In 1988 they recorded their debut album "Reek Of Putrefaction" which included many songs from their demo. The band became known for using a huge amount of medical terms in their lyrics and also for using intros from pathological documentaries. Rumors told it that the band was made up op pre-med students but that was not true. In 1995 the band recorded their last album called "Swansong". Their label Earache Records took more than a year torelease the album and while waiting for this the band split up since they were tired of everything. This was also the least Carcass-like of their albums with a more rock-oriented sound and less extremity.
