The names of Carcass, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy when mentioned in more conservative circles will strike fear, outrage and decrees of the moral decline in our society. When those same names are mentioned among the diehard legions of extreme music, nothing but admiration, praise and individual artistry are thought. Few bands will ever make the impact that the bands mentioned have. In fact, extreme music has been somewhat stagnant as of late, waiting for something new, something as ferocious as Cannibal Corpse, something as gutterly disgusting as Carcass, something offensively disturbing as Autopsy, and something as politically charged as Napalm Death. Introducing CATTLE DECAPITATION.

Formed in 1996 by David Astor and Gabe Serbian, also members of the popular sci-fi horror core group The Locust, the band has gone through some interesting changes. Their first 7" vinyl release "10 Torments of the Damned" was released, and a few local shows completed, the then guitarist/vocalist disappeared without a trace within a few months of starting the band. Serbian then asked Travis Ryan, ex-drummer for S.D. death metal band Strangulation (now reformed as Disgorge) to come do vocals and guitar after hearing Ryan's Vocals on old school Carcass-clone band Anal Flatulence. Travis was more than enthusiastic to try out upon hearing their recently released 7", realizing that it was a promising move as well as sharing a love for gore-oriented metal. The sound of the band changed drastically from the 7" and has held the same level of brutality ever since, but not until another change was made. David, then bassist for the band, decided to switch spots with Gabe as Gabe decided to play guitar. They then started out, rather experimentally as a three-piece consisting of only guitar, drums and vocals writing vigorously and recorded and released 2 different albums within a year, first “Human Jerky”(Satan’s Pimp) and was quickly followed by “Homovore”(31G). Both albums sold out their initial pressings within a few days of release. Then came bass player Troy Oftedal. Troy immediately clicked with the band from the get-go. With an ability to write whole songs in his head, he was a perfect match for a bass player/song writer. His songs would go on to create CATTLE DECAPITATION new spin on their old sound. Eventually, Gabe’s obligations to his other band The Locust forced him out of Cattle Decapitation. The band had already been auditioning Josh Elmore as second guitar. Josh came all the way out from his home in Chicago to start anew in CATTLE DECAPITATION. He quickly took over lead guitar, astonishing his band mates with his ability to pick up the songs so quickly and Gabe switched to exclusively playing drums for The Locust, now signed to Anti Records, an Epitaph imprint.

This transition would officially mark CATTLE DECAPITATION as the new ugly face in extreme music. The band has consistently tour the West Coast, and into Mexico, where some international acts won't dare play. Fans quickly gravitated toward the dreary gore tinged nature of CATTLE DECAPITATION, and would feed on everything CATTLE DECAPITATION did. Throughout 2001 and into 2002 CATTLE DECAPITATION performances, which are primarily all age events, result in astounding attendance. Their fans are overwhelmingly supportive; literally cleaning out the merchandise booths at all shows. A fact that the band is acutely aware of, making sure that they keep on hand massive amounts of vinyl, t-shirts, patches, CD's and buttons for their insatiable fans. Their loyalty to the extreme underground has not gone un-rewarded, as the band continues to draw fans from around the world through word of mouth and the Internet. Not only is CATTLE DECAPITATION the most extreme and talented band to come out of San Diego, it probably isn't much of a stretch to say that CATTLE DECAPITATION could be the most severe, authentic Southern California quintet since Slayer.

CATTLE DECAPITATION is now signed to Metal Blade Records and has released one album so far entitled “To Serve Man”. Their next album, appropriately titled “Humanure” will be released in early 2004! It will feature the latest addition to the band, drummer Michael Laughlin. The band parted ways with drummer David Astor in May of 2003 due to inability to live up to the obligations of touring and regular necessities of the band. Michael, previously of CREATION IS CRUCIFIXION, is a fitting replacement. CATTLE DECAPITATION Mark V begins now.
