Celebratum photo
The Norwegian black metal band Celebratum originally began in 1996 as a doom / death metal band created by four young musicians. Soon the music became darker, faster and more extreme, influenced by 80s heavy metal, 90s progressive rock and the Norwegian black metal scene.

In the Summer of 1999 the band entered D'sign Studios for their first real recording session, resulting in their first demo. In March 2000 Celebratum did their first live appearance together with Ancient and in the Autumn a second demo was recorded at Sweden's Abyss Studios.

Many labels were now interested in the band and in September 2001 a deal was signed with the American Arctic Music Group. The debut album was recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Tommy Tägtgren. A few line-up changes then followed.
