CHARISMA based in Bietigheim (South-Germany) were founded in 1997 when the band IVANHOE (three albums on WMMS Records) split due to intern problems. The creative part of IVANHOE were guitarist Achim Welsch and bassist Giovanni Soulas who were heading for new targets which they found in CHARISMA. After three studio-albums with IVANHOE (Visions and reality, Symbols of time and Polarized) and numerous live-shows a.o. tour with Iced Earth/Nevermore (1996), Enchant and Skyclad, the time was right for a new start. With female singer Annette Kienzle the boys did a brilliant shot, the Jazz-singer and vocal-teacher dominates CHARISMA`s sound with her variable and emotional voice. The Line-Up is completed by keyboarder Richard Seibel and drummer Markus Blind (formerly in Rebirth). But on the album are almost four (!) different drummers that can be heard. On the first album “KARMA” the band shows all facettes of their musical abilities. Starting with the straight Metal-track “State design” over technical, progressive compositions “Karma” and balladesc sounds “Warm my soul” to the new version of IVANHOE`s hit “Deeper ground” everything can be heard. Even an ABBA-cover tune is included that surely will surprise you. Guitarist and producer Achim Welsch created a transparent and crystal-clear sound, the coverartwork completes the mood that the album delivers. CHARISMA don`t write songs to listen to once, but top-level rocksounds to enjoy!
