Crodonium is a melodic death-metal band from Lahti, Finland
which was formed in winter 2001. Juho Helppi (Lead Guitar) & Teemu
Peltonen (Drums) came up with the idea forming up a band which plays
melodic metal with their interests towards bands like Children of Bodom and
Dimmu Borgir. A little later Jani Laine (Rhythm Guitar) and Veli-Matti
Kyllönen (synth) came along with the project. In summer 2002, the band
found a singer ("Growl your lungs out" would describe it better than
singing) Lasse Saira.
The band have had a one gig before they even found a bass player,
though everything would probably got even more messed up if they had had a
bass player back then.
First gig of Crodonium was at Kasisali at Lahti. It was a local
school's 85 anniversary event and things there went pretty bad. Little later
after that Crodonium found a bass player Risto Roine and the second gig
was at hand. The gig was at Lahti In the local bar called Torvi. Risto
Roine left the band after the second gig (why? no one knows...). Soon
after that Crodonium got a new bass player Pauli Viljakainen.
In the past two years Crodonium have had a few gigs. One of them was in
local heavy-metal event called Declaration 2003 in Kasisali. Crodonium
have also recorded a demo called "Towards mourning dawn" in the spring
of 2004. It contains four songs + intro. Small budget caused the sounds
to sound kind of smudgy. That is the history of Crodonium this far...
During 2005 vocalist Lasse Saira and guitarist Juho Helppi joined Withering and later on they decided to leave Crodonium to focus on their new band, causing Crodonium to split up.
