| Band biography |
In 2002, a band was born. DEAD AWAKEN at that time was only two young guitarists (Andreas Backström and Jonas Lindberg) and a drummer (Joakim Edlund), who only wanted to play some death/thrash metal. Three songs from the old band ABYSSAL CHAOS, "Kamikaze", "Abyss" and "Aggravating Mayhem", was quickly rearranged to fit into this new suit. A fourth one, "Instrument of War", was written shortly after this stepping into hell. Now DEAD AWAKEN needed a singer, fast as hell.
Andreas Morén was recruited for the job from fellow band THE ENTHRALLED, where he's placed behind the drums. His voice fitted nicely into the band, and after the writing of the fifth song "Molotov Massacre", DEAD AWAKEN had their first gig at Black Orange, Västerås. As a bassplayer, Attila Toth was set up to do it.
Main influences has been and still is VADER, THE CROWN, DECAPITATED, SLAYER, KRISIUN, DYING FETUS and VADER again, among others. The general writing process is that I, Andreas, comes up with some riffs and we all put them together.
DEATH BEFORE DISHONOUR
The first demo CD, called "Death Before Dishonour" was recorded at Studio S116 Västerås, by Henrik Wenngren (VICIOUS, ex-MORNALAND, SKYFIRE). As to this date, the CD has been sold and given away to about 200 people all over Sweden and in a few other European and American countries.
While spreading "Death Before Dishonour", DEAD AWAKEN has been playing live as much as possible, struggling to become really good at it. At those shows, Jörgen Kristensen (ex-ABHOTH, ex-CHIMERA, ex-BMC SPLEEN) acted bassplayer.

INSTRUMENT OF WAR
In march 2003, Jörgen Kristensen announced he wanted to join the band full-time. A very welcome decision for the rest of the band, who were really getting spoiled having such a great bassplayer and great guy among them. He's a positive injection into song-arranging as well.
In april, the second, yet untitled, demo CD was recorded at the same studio with the same producer. The three songs "Instrument of War", "Armageddon Butcher" and "Grindead" was recorded and the CD will soon be released. The demo will also have some bonus tracks from "Death Before Dishonour" on it.
More songs are being written. "56 Tons of Madness" is completed and can be heard if you catch us live, and "Minigun Messiah" is near completion. "56 Tons of Madness" is a slower, heavier tune while "Minigun Messiah" takes the life out of Jocke with extreme grinding and hysteria. Some live shows are booked, and the band is always looking for more. The DEAD AWAKEN army is marching. See you at the front!
