Band biography
December's Cold Winter photo
December's Cold Winter became a reality in early 2000. Despite a praised stage debut, winning the Costarican "Battle of the Bands" on their second gig, DCW suffered the usual share of tribulations and line-up changes any band goes through.

In September, 2001 DCW aquired one of the most brutal and original drummers in the country. Taking advantage of the newest member's capabilities, DCW reinvents itself into what's considered one of Costa Rica's most groundbreaking ensembles. Such propitious circumstances provided an enviroment in which the band reached a new level both in musical composition and performance.

As a product of this new "image", DCW played a succesful series of gigs both in Costa Rica and Panama. Their on-stage performances garnered the band with the best National Keyboardist (2001), and best National Lead Singer (2002) awards.

In June, 2002 our current bassist joined DCW's ranks thus closing the circle of what the band likes to call a solid amalgamation of styles and enriching the band's sound and stage performance. With this line-up, DCW won it's second "Battle of the Bands" in just three years, being the first and only band to accomplish this feat. Also, the band did a great performance at the most importat event on the country: The Rock Fest 2003, and was one of the most interesting and fresh band of the gig.

Back in December 2003, DCW was the opening act for Sepultura in two different shows in Costa Rica, and in October of 2004 the band was the opening act for the "Mighty" Dismember.

In a short period of time DCW have both broken and set standards in the National Scene, proving to be one of the most promising Metal Bands in the history of Costa Rica. Having been able to reach their goals up to date, the next logical step is to have a proper studio recording which brings us to where the band is currently at.

Now, after almost a year working hard in the debut album, the dream has come true and finally at the end of this year (2004) we hope to have the album out worlwide. Steve Austin from "Today is the Day" was the one who made the album sound more sick, evil and intense, he was in charge of the mixing and mastering process. This is what Steve thinks about DCW: December's Cold Winter is one of the more creative bands on the Metal Scene today. Their Driving rythyms crossed with Evil Melodies blazing on guitar this band is going to be a classic for sure. The music takes you somewhere else. A place neither back in time or forward but a mythological time with almost renaissance like musical progression and baroque themed chord patterns played through massively sick and Nasty metal guitars. The drumming is over the top relentless in the vein of such powerful bands as Emperor and Opeth.

Overall, DCW is ready to make Metal History. Listen up or you'll miss out!
