In May 2007 the band was set to embark on a short European tour alongside death metal stalwarts Vital Remains and label mates Bloody Sign with appearances at the Neurotic Deathfest in the Netherlands as well as the German festivals Bringer of Death and Fuck The Commerce Festival. However, due to Kam Lee not being able to secure a passport in time, the tour was cancelled.
Late May 2007 saw Denial Fiend entering the GL Studios in Brandon, Florida, in order to record their debut album. It was mixed in July at MANA studios by Brian Elliot. "They Rise" was finally released in October by Ibex Moon Records and features eleven songs and a guest appearance from fellow death metal veteran Mike Browning (Acheron, Nocturnus, Morbid Angel).
In an attempt to make up to fans and promoters for the cancellation of the May tour the entire Denial Fiend line-up, strengthened by guitarist Steve Swanson, embarked on a European club tour in late October and early November as a reunited version of Massacre under the banner of "Massacre Re-animated Tour". They would also play a Denial Fiend set on the trek on which they were joined by Jungle Rot, Suicidal Angel, Exterminator and Ashura.
On March 7th, 2008, the band did a gig at the Crowbar in Tampa, Florida, where they played covers of Samhain, The Accused and Misfits atop their regular Denial Fiend originals. The show was recorded for a possible future release via Ibex Moon Records. In April 2008 they performed at the Los Angeles Murderfest and in July 2008 at the Central Illinois Metalfest with God Dethroned, Impaled, Incantation, Monstrosity, Origin, Suffocation and many others. Inbetween they had time to visit Europe where they took part in the Fuck The Commerce festival in Germany in early May. Three planned Massacre / Denial Fiend shows in Mexico in June suffered a last minute cancellation.
January 2009 would see both Kam Lee and Curtis Beeson parting ways with Denial Fiend on friendly terms. The remaining duo of Sam Williams and Terry Butler immediately recruited D.R.I. skinsman Rob Rampy as a permanent replacement and vocalist Blaine Cook of The Accused and Toe Tag agreed to guest on the band's forthcoming EP which they had begun working on.
