DEVOID were part of the 2nd wave of UK underground death metal (first being NAPALM DEATH, CARCASS, BOLT THROWER, PARADISE LOST) who released a semi-legendary demo "Human Plague" which sold very well and was often described as one of the first "USA sounding" demo's England had produced. This secured record label interest from labels like Century Media and others, but the band broke with 'tradition' and signed to a local label more famous for punk rock releases (Anti-Cimex, KMFDM etc).

The first and only lp "Blackened Empire" had some great reviews in the press (for a small UKDM band), however the band split soon after.

CARCASS took advantage of the split and recruited Carlo Regadas for their last lp.
