DRACONIC came into existence in 2002., first as a project formed by keyboardist/vocalist Branislav Stankovic, using musical ideas he had been working on over the prior 5 years and developing material for a full-length album. The album, entitled "Conflux," was eventually recorded in its entirety in the month of November 2002, at Paradox Studios in Smederevo, Serbia and Montenegro. Along with Branislav, who handled the keyboards and vocals on the album, guest studio musicians who worked on the album were Srdjan and Miroslav Brankovic on guitars and Damir Adzic on drums (Alogia, Psychoparadox), Milan Suput (Consecration) on bass and Mihaela Gacic, who contributed female vocals to the record.
After the album had been recorded Branislav knew that many changes would have to be made in order for Draconic to function as a real band and not just a studio project. A new line-up needed to be assembled in order for Draconic to be able to bring these songs to life in live situations. Enter Milan Kostic on drums, Dusan Andrijasevic and Petar Alargic taking care of guitar duties and three live session members; Smiljka (Moondive) handling the female vocals, Uros Andrijasevic on bass and Vladimir Djedovic (Alogia) on keys.
In May of 2003 Draconic had found a permanent bass player in Lazar Galic, and from there on Draconic had cemented themselves as a five-piece. Branislav, Milan, Dusan, Petar and Lazar began to work on molding Draconic into a completely new entity both in concert and in the studio, a band that would represent the personalities of each member and strive to create something new and exciting within the realm of extreme metal music.
The summer of 2003 proved to be very busy for the band, including a slew of live performances at most of the larger festivals which cater to heavy music within Serbia; Hard N Heavy, Belgrade Open Air, and the Hellhammer Festival in Pancevo. There was also a live performance on the "Sunday Hit 202 Live" radio program, along with bands Rare and Night Shift, which broadcasted to tens of thousands of listeners across the country.
Through the end of the year Draconic continued to perform around the country gaining a strong following and a reputation as an explosive and intense live act.
During their short winter break from live performances, the members of Draconic were very busy in the studio already working on songs and concepts for the new record. In these new songs and ideas it is evident that the future of Draconic's music lies far away from its symphonic black metal roots and strives for a very experimental and modern approach to extreme metal while still maintaining the ferocity & aggression from which the band had been conceived.
On March 14, 2004, Draconic steps back onto the live scene, performing once again on the "Sunday Hit 202 Live" show, only this time as headliners along with X-Centar.
Finally, after months of being pushed back due to technical problems, "Conflux" finally saw the light of day in April of 2004, released and distributed by Rock Express Records.
Currently the band continues to work on material for its sophomore record as well as performing all around the country promoting "Conflux."
