Band biography

Edguy was formed in the little town of Fulda in Germany in 1992 and have grown to become one of the leading power metal acts of the 90s. The band started out as a cover band while the members only were 14 years of age. They recorded two demo tapes and the first full-length album "Savage Poetry" before landing a record deal with German label AFM Records. The real breakthrough for the band came in 1998 when "Vain Glory Opera" was released, an album that sold almost 50 000 copies worldwide. The band leader Tobias Sammet has also had great success with his solo rock opera project Avantasia. In October 2003 the band signed a new record deal with Nuclear Blast.
