1995. From the juvenile vessel ("unknown" as "Andalucia") and its' sudden departure from a scene it surely never really joined, did the first ever thoughts of an unshackled, intruigingly artistic and completely unhinged creation come to life. To not be quelled by either abilities or motivation on behalf of those whom the experience of musical endeavours are shared were what was to be the very essence of a brand new journey to be embarked on. Out of this journey would spring the first ever recordings finished December 1998. At this point the decision to focus all the art that could possibly emerge from within into a named icon became "ElviraMadigan".
These first songs were all of much higher quality than was expected in the very beginning but did not turn out to be sufficient to solely introduce ElviraMadigan to the world. They were all gathered on a demo-tape named "Varsel" but stayed more or less unreleased. The moment of world introduction would have to wait until the fall of 1999 when a new set of twelve songs were finished and the first ever website under the banner "elviramadigan.com" was introduced on the web. Still, not much happened. At this point the quest for gaining the much desired record deal was initiated. A quest which abruptively came to an end in September 2000. Northlore Records was formed.
Due to past experiences and due to this rather stubborn artistic mind of mine I suddenly came to be enlightened with the only obvious solution to this current dilemma. Involving other people into the world of ElviraMadigan would most likely cause the whole essence of this project to crumble at its' very foundations, since the initial reason for forming ElviraMadigan was that of me being able to more or less tyrannically reign over every aspect of its' appearance. Forming my own label was the natural step in letting EM evolve. This was in the autumn of 2000 and naturally the first release for this new record label would be (even though finished one full year prior to this) "BlackArts". And when the CD hit the metal press it was recieved well beyond imagination if one considers the small budget involved and the totally independent management. Top reviews poured in like "6 of 6 possible", "9 of 10 possible" and this was from independant press from all over Europe. Still, "BlackArts" was really hard to get outside Sweden (and within Sweden it wasn't that easy either).
In the early summer of 2001 ElviraMadigan went on its' first ever promotion tour renting stalls at "Bloodstock 01" in Derby, England, as well as "Sweden Rock Festival". Finally, ElviraMadigan reached out and managed to get contact with a distributor in Scottland and sold very well at the Swedish festival. This was all done to promote "BlackArts" which was now more than one and a half years old and while the new opus was being finalised. "Whiches" had been in recordingsessions almost from the very day the first "elviramadigan.com" site was official. It had been somewhat frustrating to be working so hard with new material yet promoting recordings which felt rather old. But to take pride in each and every song recorded regardless of timeperiod is something I can do without question since every single piece of music in ElviraMadigan is done uncompromisingly from my own honest view and therefor represents something strong beyond my wildest beliefs. This is mere the beginning of the continuation of "BlackArts" - an album that despite it's lack of budget, reached many and made a profound impact on those who took it to heart. Wether Metalhead or not, ElviraMadigan manages to create an immense interest for those who dare.
