EVERMIND was born is 2000 as a project leaded by John
Cadena, aka KDNA, who gathered musicians from local bands in order to reach
for a melodic death metal sound which would incorporate elements of
modern music into metal.
In June 2000, EVERMIND got into SIRIO Studios to record their first
promotional piece entitled INNER EQUILIBRIUM, which was spread to the
media only. In February 2002 the band opened for the German band
DESTRUCTION. The band received many good critics from both the public and the
media. This lead to many shows in and out of their city (Bogotá –
Colombia) until November 2001 when KDNA decided to revaluate the band’s sound
and take new air in terms of composition, structure and concept.
So John Cadena teamed up with Javier Ramirez, ex axe man for the band
ATAVI and drummer Cesar Gomez form the black metal band CREATED IN
SILENCE. Altogether they started working on material through all 2002,
playing more shows and working on new songs along the year.
Once having gotten more shape in composition, the band got into a new
era of eclectic sound embracing different genres and tendencies which
resulted in WAKE UP, a MCD released on 2002. This recording showed more
of a Black Death band mixed with elements of a Dark and Electro Gothic
nature which help show the band to different specialized media, local
and international as well. The band got ranked number 46 in the MP3. com
top 100 worldwide which helped them get a little more recognition
abroad.
The keyboard and guitar players left the band by mid 2002 in order to
keep up with personal issues. So the band recruited Alejandro Aldana who
helped the band get a tighter and more balanced sound. At the same
time, the band decided to leave keyboards behind in order to have a more
raw sound.
Once having a stable line up, EVERMIND composed 9 songs during 2003,
and played many shows that included METAL ATTACK, Kennedy Al Rock, Rock
En El Parque, Nocturno Sinfonico Medellin and Neuro Festival. All of
those big festivals held in their homeland that ended the year for the
band with an ever-greater acceptance from media and public in general.
In January 2004, the band got into the studio again to record their
debut full length CD under the production of Carlos Franco and kept
playing many shows that included opening for the Norwegian band DIMMU BORGIR
last 28th of April. Right now EVERMIND is focused on their upcoming
album that is scheduled to come out by July 2004.
