Exodus was one of the first thrash metal bands to appear in the San Francisco Bay Area in the US together with other great names like Metallica, Megadeth, Heathen etc. The band was originally formed in 1981 but broke up in 1992 to once again reform in 1997. They signed a record deal with Torrid Records in 1984 but because of company problems their debut wasn't released until 1985 by Combat Records. The vocalist Paul Baloff died of a massive stroke in early 2002 but the remaining members are still keeping the band alive. In late August 2003 Exodus signed a new deal with the German label Nuclear Blast.
