Band biography

The American punk rock band The Fastbacks was formed in Seattle, Washington, by a group of students at the Nathan Hale High School in 1979. At first the band was not very serious. They went through a long row of drummers including later to be Guns N' Roses drummer Duff McKagan (then only 15 years old) who stayed with them for about a year before moving to Los Angeles. They released their debut album "...And His Orchestra" in 1987. When Nirvana broke through around 1992 they were given some national attention and signed a record contract with Sub Pop Records. In 1995 Eddie Vedder invited them to open three West Coast arean shows for Pearl Jam and 28 dates in America and Europe the following year. Band leader and main songwriter Kurt Bloch founded his own record label No Threes Records and also played in a Cheap Trick cover band called Sick Man Of Europe together with Sub Pop co-owner Jonathan Poneman. Bloch was previously in the punk rock band The Cheaters who released a 7" EP called "Man As Hunter" in 700 copies on his No Threes label in 1980.
