Band biography

Flotsam And Jetsam is an American thrash metal band and was formed in the autumn of 1982 by Jason Newsted and Kelly David Smith who had moved together to Scotsdale, Arizona, originally under the name Dogz but they changed their name in 1983 to Floatsam & Jetsam the same year. In 1986 they were signed by Brian Slagel and his new label Metal Blade Records. They were then picked up by the major label MCA who didn´t treat the band very nice. They didn´t bother to promote their albums and lied to the band about lots of things. MCA then dropped them completely while on tour with Megadeth and Korn. They were then resigned by Metal Blade, a label who seems to care about the bands. In May 2004 they signed a new deal with Crash Music Inc.
