Gang Green began as a punk / hardcore hybrid band in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1980. At first they did not have a name but Gang Green was suggested by guitarist Bob Cenci of neighbouring band Jerry's Kids. They became known for having the Budweiser beer logo as their official mark. A few years into their career they opted for a heavier metal sound and began incorporation thrash influences into their music. This was when they tried to enroll Meliah Rage guitarist Anthony Nichols although he did not want to join the band full-time. The band split up in 1984 (after a temporary split in 1983) but reunited later on. They were still active playing live shows in the Boston area in 2003. Mike Dean was offered a drummer position in Samhain by Glen Danzig but turned it down as he was just about to join the Marine Corps. He later on moved to Hawaii and then Las Vegas. Bill Manley graduated from college and runs a bar in Boston.
