The progressive metal band Halcyon Way was formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001 by song writer and producer Jon Bodan. The band spent some time on the local live circuit playing with acts such as Samael, Strapping Young Lad, Cathedral and Helloween. A record deal with the Texas based Christian metal label Bombworks Records was signed in early April 2006 and the band's debut album "A Manifesto For Domination" was set for a summer release. However, nothing ever materialized from this deal for undisclosed reasons.
In September 2008 a new contract was signed with US based Nightmare Records for a November release of the long delayed debut album. The CD was produced by band leader Jon Bodan, mixed by Lasse Lammert (Alestorm) and mastered by James Murphy (Testament, Death). It also featured guest appearances from Jonah Weingarten of Pyramaze and Blaze Pearson of The Souls Unrest.
In July 2009 Halcyon Way performed at the Rocklahoma Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma. Early September 2009 saw the band parting ways with frontman Sean Shields due to creative differences, being replaced by Steve Braun of Italian progressive metallers Ashent.
