Band biography

Hollenthon was formed in the summer of 1994 under the name Vuzem by Martin Schirenc as a side project to the controversial death/grind band Pungent Stench. It was a way for him to get away from the musical limitations attached to Pungent Stench and create something new. He wrote two songs which were included on a compilation disc called "A.B.M.S. Morici Obscura Pars" which featured Austrian black metal bands. The cd was well received in the underground but Martin decided to take a break from the project for a while. Two years later he once again began writing new material. The new songs turned out to be very different from the original once and thus he changed the band name to Hollenthon. Silenius from Summoning played the new songs to Max from Napalm Records who liked them and offered them a deal which was accepted.
