In late 1982 Axl Rose (born William Bailey) moved to Hollywood, Los Angeles, with his girlfriend. He formed a band called Axl with a guitarist called Chris Weber which soon changed their name to Rose. His old friend Izzy Stradlin (born Jeffrey Isabelle) had already lived in LA for two years. He joined them and they soon changed their name again, this time to Hollywood Rose and played some shows in the Los Angeles area in 1984. The band broke up briefly but re-united the same year with a new line-up. A final break-up probably took place in March 1985 as Guns N' Roses was formed. While in Rose Axl and Izzy wrote a song called "My Way - Your Way" which turned up as "Anything Goes" on the "Appetite For Destruction" album. Other songs from that period were "Shadow Of Your Love" and "Wreckless" (later retitled "Reckless Life"). The band more or less became Guns N' Roses through a number of line-up changes in 1985. Drummer Johnny Kreis's father Richard Kreis actually played bass in a polka band together with Alex Van Halen's father Jan Van Halen (clarinet).
