From the scorching heat of Texas comes the perfect crucible to create metal not often heard on American shores. Out of this aural forge comes IGNITOR, the culmination of over 20 years of experience in metal/extreme music. The band came to be when guitarist Stuart Laurence, bass player Brendon Bigelow, drummer Pat Doyle, guitarist Beverly Barrington and vocalist Erika Swinnich joined forces in the summer of 2003. The pedigree of IGNITOR is not to be dismissed. During the early 90s, Stuart Laurence provided the guitar crunch to Texas' favorites Agony Column, touring the US and causing havoc at clubs throughout the country. Former kit basher of punk warriors The Offenders, Pat Doyle provides a pounding pulse to IGNITOR's music that keeps the metal rolling. Beverly Barrington uses her six-string and high-kicking skills developed in rock-mavens T.A.N.G. to provide a crunching counterpoint to Stuart's soaring lead work. For six years, vocalist Erika Swinnich fronted goth group Autumn Tears but now leads IGNITOR in a sawblade-siren attack. Bass player Brendon Bigelow, the five string foundation of the group, also holds down the low end with death metal minions, Death of Millions.
IGNITOR desires to make music based in the classics: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica - all the masters of the 80s. The undeniable power of these groups holds true even to this day. The music of IGNITOR is a combination of classic true metal style with the power of today's greats like Primal Fear, Grave Digger and Brainstorm. After six months of writing and recording, the band produced their "Take to the Sky" demo. Successful live shows followed. IGNITOR is currently looking for a record label that will share their vision of true metal and allow them to spread their music throughout the world.
