Band biography

Impious is a Swedish death / thrash metal band that was formed in early 1994 by the two young guitarists Valle and Martin. The band then had a hard task finding completing members before playing their first gig in May 1995 together with Lord Belial. In the summer of 1995 they also recorded their first demo called "Infernal Predomination". At the end of the year they also recorded a song called "Dominated By Tales" for the local compilation disc "Vad Händer?" ("What Is Happening?" in Swedish). In 1996 they went through some line-up changes and recorded a second demo at the Los Angered Recording studio. In the summer of 1997 they recorded a third demo which was never released. At the same time they also recorded a cover version of Sepultura's "Inner Self" for a tribute album. At the end of the summer they signed a three record deal with the Swedish label Black Sun Records. In December they started recording their debut album at Sunlight Studios. In October 1998 they recorded a cover version of Metallica's "One" for another tribute album. In February 1999 Impious went to Holland and Belgium to play some gigs together with the Dutch death metal band Sinister. In January 2000 they entered Studio Mega to record their second album. During the summer the band once again went through a couple of line-up changes. In February 2004 they signed a new deal with Metal Blade Records.
