In Battle was formed in 1996 after Fröléti, Wiklund and Östlund of Odhinn joined forces with Sjödin of Setherial. In 1996 In Battle recorded a demo that was later sent to Napalm Records who signed the band. The following year in April the debut album was recorded at Sunlight Studios. This release contained twelve tracks. Their second release came in March of 1998. Entitled "The Rage of the Northmen", it was recorded at Ballerina Audio, Umeĺ, Sweden. Before entering the studio, the line-up was reduced due to irreconcilable differences between band members. The current line-up features Fröléti (Guitars/Bass) and Wiklund (Drums/Vocals). In October 2003 the band had reformed with a new line-up and material for a new album to be recorded in March 2004 at Erik Rutan's (HATE ETERNAL/ex-MORBID ANGEL) Mana studio in Florida. In April 2005 the band parted ways with their label partner Cold Records.
