Into Desolation was started in the mid nineties by guitarist Linus Ekström. At the time the style was black metal and a demo was recorded with drummer Tore Stjärna (Aka Necromorbus). As Linus started playing with swedish metallers Siebenbürgen Into Desolation was laid to rest for a long time.
After leaving Siebenbürgen in 2001 and taking some time off from the guitar Linus decided take on a more serious approach to playing the guitar. In early 2003 the first song (Into the unknown) for the reincarnation of Into Desolation was written. The style was now more regular metal with clean vocals and in the summer the first instrumental demo was also recorded with Anders Ericsson on bass and Karl Thunder of the drums. The goal was to be able to present some material to someone that could handle the lead vocals for the band.
Linus met singer Liv Roxxy at the Sweden Rock festival in 2003 and after listening to the songs she decided to join the band. In the spring of 2004 four new songs were recorded in Offbeat Studio by Anders Erisson who also did the bass on the recording. This time, keyboards was added to the songs by Thomas Germanizer who joined the band shortly before the recording.
After sending the material to several zines and record companies we got a possitive response from a Swedish label. As the label wanted to hear some more material we decided to rehease and record three new songs as well as a new version of an old song as fast as we could. At this time we had to ask everyone if they wanted to take things a bit more seriously with the band. Karl Thunder, who had played the drums on all recordings was involved in a number of bands/projects, was not interested in beeing a full time member.
At this time we started the long project of finding another drummer who could concentrate full time on the band. In early 2005 we found drummer Micke Stark who had been handling the drums for the band Steel Attack and was searching for a new band. At this time we began reheasing with Mike and a new guitarist named Einar Dofs. In July 2005 we got in contact with vocalist Patrik Hübinette which makes the line-up complete.
