Band biography Upload photo
When the Portland, Oregon, based band The Violators broke up around 1979 guitarist Jay Reynolds played in a heavy metal band called Jade with Mick Zane and Pete Laufmann. Jay was only sitting in on guitar for a few gigs as they were in the midst of losing a couple of band members. The bass player was a German guy called Chris. The band had a huge warehouse, a full PA with lights. They had a backline of Marshall amps and used to get bands like UFO and Judas Priest to come over to their warehouse and have jam sessions where there was refreshments and girls for them. The band could get backstage to all the local Portland gigs and they threw lots of parties. As Jade never got anywhere due to no rock bands being booked at the time when new wave and disco was breaking through they put the band to rest and Jay went to Hawaii for a year. Jade were more or less just a cover band but were starting to work on originals and was about to change the name of the band. Jay knew over 200 songs at that age since he had learned to play by playing off records. When they had UFO and Judas Priest over they played their songs and also jammed on some blues songs. Jay actually got to play "Jumpin' Jack Flash" with Glenn Tipton.
