Laaz Rockit was a San Francisco based heavy / thrash metal band that existed between 1982 and 1992. Their original bass player Dave Starr named the band after a sci-fi weapon in a Clint Eastwood movie. In the early days they went under the name Depth Charge. Laaz Rockit were at first signed to Ratt manager Marshall Berle's Timecoast label but Berle left them when Ratt signed to Atlantic. Instead they signed a deal with Mark Leonard's Target Records. In 1985 the band toured America opening up for Grim Reaper and Exciter but after three shows they were removed from the tour. In 1986 their bass player Willie Lange auditioned for Metallica. Several line-up changes and tours both in the US and Europe followed before the demise of the band in 1992. Willy left in 1990 to work in his father's trucking company and soon after that both Phil and Victor left as well. "Nothing'$ $acred" was written with the help of Jon Torres (Angel Witch) and Ken Savich (Sindrome) and recorded with Dave Chavarri from Gothic Slam on drums. For the tour Scott Sargeant (Wrekking Machine) and Scott Dominguez joined. After the tour in Japan Dave left and was replaced by Matt Vander Ende from Defiance. While writing material for the next album (mainly by Scott S.) they felt that the material would not sound like the old Laaz Rockit and therefore they released it under the name Gack. This was a Japan only release just like their live album "Taste Of Rebellion". Soon after this the band split up. Michael became a sports journalist, Matt played in a Las Vegas band, Scott S. went on to Killing Culture and Skinlab.
