The American female fronted death metal band Landmine Marathon was formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2004 by former and present members of local bands such as Suicide Nation, Osama Bin Sars and Bullyrag. In January 2006 they signed a contract with Level Plane Records who released the band's debut album "Wounded" in the summer.
In September 2006 guitarist Ryan Butler (Unruh, Structure of Lies, North Side Kings) joined the band. Prior to this Butler had engineered and mixed the Landmine Marathon debut at his own studio Arcane Digital Recording.
In April 2007 and January 2008 the band undertook week-long tours on the West Coast. May saw the band entering Ryan Butler's studio in Chandler, Arizona, once again to record their sophomore effort. Entitled "Rusted Eyes Awake", it was released by Level Plane Records in late October.
The release of the band's second album was followed by another week long string of West Coast dates in November after which guitarist Jeff Owens bailed out. By January 2009 he had been replaced by a new guitarist named Dylan.
