Leather Charm was one of the early bands of the future Metallica guitarist / vocalist James Hetfield. The band formed in 1980 under the name Phantom Lord but in June 1981 the band changed their name to Leather Charm as Ron McGovney joined. They split up soon after that as the drummer and guitarist left. They didn`t gig but they played covers of The Scorpions, Iron Maiden & Quiet Riot. Leather Charm had three original songs: "Handsome Ransom" and "Lets Go Rock `n Roll". Riffs from these two songs eventually were re-used in Metallica to form the basis of "No Remorse". The third original was a rudimentary version of "Hit The Lights".
