Legs Diamond is an American hard rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in early 1975. Their first official recording was an early version of "Rat Race", which appeared on an unsigned artist compilation album entitled "L.A. Soundtrack '76", which was sponsored by K-WEST radio. The band then signed a recording contract with Mercury Records on November 9th, 1976. They opened for on the "Rock & Roll Over" tour before their debut release had even hit the store racks. Their first album "Legs Diamond" was released by Mercury in early 1977. In the 27 years since the band formed, they have released 10 albums on 7 different record labels: Mercury, Cream, Target, Metal Blade, Diamond, Music For Nations, and now ZOOM Records. They have showcased their live skills on national tours with bands like Nazareth, Ted Nugent, Styx, Riot, Alice Cooper and Rush. They are apparently still active although I don't think they plan on recording any new material. The band's drummer Jonathan Valen was actually with Judas Priest on their Turbo tour. He had to join them for the first three weeks of the tour to show the band and crew how to operate the new drum kit they wanted to use.
