As a side project of Dream Theater, John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy formed Liquid Tension Experiment, an all-instrumental supergroup. Members including legendary bassist Tony Levin and future Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess (replacing Derek Sherinian in '99).
