Band biography
Lord Wind photo
From the deep abyss of the past the witness of great deeds as spirits are coming back. Forgotten melodies born in tumult of fight, fire and clashing steel, in times of war and conquer, triumph and decay, in times of great leaders who led their proud children the ways of victory. Melodies that remind us about our true cultural and spiritual identity, about strength and pride of our brave ancestors, about might of sword and of will….melodies about life and death

Lord Wind is a spirit of the past and a herald of a future…one of few true harbor of ancient religions

Spirit of paganism is still alive in Lord Wind melodies. As Darken says: “by the power and strength of ancient Lords of life and death I have brighten the way I walk….hidden from the world I play for ghosts of the past…melodies that soothe sadness and hatred. I am going deep into the past, into distant times of heathenish cultures. I find there things that are lost today: spiritual identity, heathenish consciousness, the ideas and worthies of European nations”

Musically old folk music, Middle Ages music and soundtracks inspire Lord Wind. Middle Ages, in contrast to common beliefs, were very pagan so not only Christianity was an inspiration for troubadours and musicians of those times. This music is permeated by true unrepeatable spirit of omnipresent war and death. People who created music during that time were inspired by things that today’s people cannot understand - these things were nearer to true human nature not polluted by technical civilization. This music is permeated by pagan beliefs and traditions, although Christianity tried to destroy it, pagan spirit still lived in these people and in their music.

Darken of Graveland is a leader and the only member of Lord Wind. Darken created Lord Wind in 1994. First people were able to listen to unofficial demo tapes with few Lord Wind songs very unprofessional recorded. But thanks to its originality and spiritual strength Lord Wind was respected band in the underground. It made Darken record full time official Lord Wind LP. It was the beginning of new musical style.

In September 1995 in Isengard studio Darken recorded debut LP “Forgotten Songs”. Isengard Prod released this material as tape version in 1995.

After that American Full Moon Prod. started to be interested in Lord Wind. Darken signed contract with Full Moon Prod. for two LPs. In May 1996 Darken recorded new versions of three songs from “Forgotten Songs”: Song like Wind, Only your Spirit will Return, and Pagan Holocaust and one new song Funeral Song. Because of problems with Full Moon Prod. causes mainly by lack of interest of its leader in new LP, Darken decided to stop cooperation with Full Moon Prod. and signed contract with No Colors rec. New Lord Wind material “Heralds of Fight” was recorded during winter 1999/2000 for No Colors rec.

Musically Lord Wind changed during these six years. Although inspirations are the same “Heralds of Fight” is different than “Forgotten Songs”. On new Lord Wind LP one can hear inspirations of mighty cult soundtrack Conan the Barbarian.

“Heralds of Fight” presents proud and spiritually strong music that moves imagination….true ethos of war. Lord Wind is a champion of cult of war and fight. Lord Wind music is used during warriors fight shows and pagan ceremonies and it is just perfect for such occasions.
