Band biography

The roots of Lost Horizon trace back to the year 1990 when Wojtek Lisicki, Martin Furängen, Michael Niklasson and Joacim Cans formed the band Highlander. In 1992 they were joined by Christian Nyqvist. They did many live shows and during the period 1990 to 1993 they recorded three demos which were never released. At this time they only played for fun and had no intention of getting a label deal. Eventually all members except for Wojtek went to the MI in Los Angeles. Wojtek stayed at home since he had formed the band Luciferion the same year but about six months earlier. After about a year the former members returned from the other side of the Atlantic but by now there was not much of an interest for metal. They decided to resurrect Highlander anyway and did some shows with a partially new line-up. However, the band was put to rest in 1995. In 1998 the band was reformed once again and after a while they signed a record contract with Music For Nations. They found out that there was a German band with that name that had already released six albums and therefore they changed their name to Lost Horizon after weeks of discussions. The material on their debut album "Awakening The World" was written around 1992 in the early days of Highlander.
