Lost Souls was originally formed as a traditional metal band but in time they became more aggressive with a sound influenced by hardcore and industrial music. The band was formed in 1991 by drummer Theo Savidis and guitarist Michael Hahne who wanted to create a mix of thrash metal, punk and hardcore. They contributed with the track "Powermad" to a 1991 compilation album before bass player Marre Martini left to form Misery Loves Company. They released a couple of albums before calling it a day in the year 2000. Remaining members formed a new band called Inrage.
