Machine Called Man photo
Machine Called Man is a band committed to breaking down stylistic boundaries and setting new standards within today’s metal genre. Brought together by the common desire to create a brand of music with integrity, intelligence and technical prowess, the band was formed in June of 2002 and immediately began writing and recording. Combining aspects of power, progressive, thrash and melodic death metal, the band has spawned a dynamic form of music centering around textural complexity. Drawing influence from bands such as Death, Cynic, and Control Denied the band creates a distinctly unique sound that stands out from the masses and defies the restrictions of genre.

Built upon the range of 7-string guitars the music takes the listener on a roller coaster ride, combining melody and brutality into a sound that is original and unique.

The first full-length demo recording released by the band in September of 2002 received rave reviews from webzines and reviewers worldwide and caused a reaction in the underground metal scene winning the approval of fans around the world. The few shows played in support of the release were also a great success, as the band went on to open up for such acts as Symphony X and Zero Hour.

As a result the band decided to proceed with the recording of a full-length debut album that would feature all the material from the demo as well as new tracks. Perennial lineup problems as well as constant changes in schedule caused the recording sessions to be delayed severely. Ultimately the recording, mixing and mastering process was to take over a year. With 2005 rapidly approaching and the mixing sessions nearing completion, Machine Called Man made the decision to have Netherlands-based mastering engineer Eddy "The San" Doorn put the finishing touches on the new record. Ed's mastery was just what the music needed and after the final finishing touches were added Machine Called Man's debut album '2.004' was finally completed and ready to be unleashed on the world.

With the new record behind them, the band have resumed writing. The new material currently in development, takes on a darker, more experimental vibe while retaining the spirit of the original recordings and remaining every bit worthy of the Machine Called Man moniker. Having persevered through years of uncertainty and internal conflicts, the band feels confident that 2005 will be the year which puts Machine Called Man on the map as the new face of metal.
