Randy Hansen's Machine Gun was formed in 1977 when Hansen, Epperly and Kelliher left Kid Chrysler and the Cruisers to form an act concentrating on a Jimi Hendrix tribute. In three years the band went from a house gig in Kent to touring all over the U.S. They shared stages with Heart, The Kinks, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many others. They also received write-ups in Rolling Stone and Guitar Player. In 1979, Randy performed on the soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" and in 1980 recorded his debut album for Capitol Records.
