The Danish heavy metal band Maltese Falcon was originally formed in 1983 and released their only album Metal Rush in 1984. Lars Ulrich of Metallica was a friend of the band and he came up with the name, which was taken from a 1930 detective novel by Dashiell Hammett, which was adapted on the film screen in 1931 and 1941. After recording a number of demos, they disbanded for good in 1986. However, before the break up, they were originally supposed to release their second album in 1985, but it never materialized.
