Band biography

Mausoleum was formed by Pär (Carnal Grief) and Dino (ex Vhynot) in the fall of 2002 with the main objective to play melodic yet aggressive thrash metal in the vein of The Haunted, Nevermore and Meshuggah. Pär and Dino recruited Timo (Septic Breed) on vocals and Henrik (Carnal Grief) on drums and recorded the demo “Demo 2003” in March 2003 in Västerås, Sweden. Bass on this recording was played by Peter Svensson (ex Vhynot). “Demo 2003” was very well received on the local music scene and the band quickly earned themselves a reputation for their abilities to combine supreme musicianship with excellent songwriting. Several live performances were carried out during 2003. Mausoleum also participated in the largest music contest for demo bands in Sweden and reached the finals, even though being considered “too heavy” to even participate.

The band quickly found a style of their own and the songwriting process really took off. In September 2003 the second demo “Fluctuating Senses” was recorded in Arboga, Sweden. During the recording sessions for “Fluctuating Senses” bass player Magnus Wall (ex Throneaeon, Septic Breed) joined the band, initially as a session bass player but he soon found his place as a permanent member.

With this new lineup, Mausoleum is stronger than ever and has set their aim towards becoming the next main attraction within the global thrash metal scene.
