The German guitar virtuoso Michael Schenker assembled his own band, the Michael Schenker Group (also known as MSG), in 1979 since he wanted to play his own music instead of working as a hired gun. At that time he had already been a member of his older brother Rudolf's world famous rock band Scorpions as well as Britain's legendary UFO. The band's debut album was produced by Deep Purple's bassist Roger Glover but although the early MSG albums were quite successful they have continued to suffer from line-up changes and business related problems throughout their entire career, some of them related to Michael's slightly unstable personal nature. In 2005 the band celebrated its 25th anniversary by releasing a unique new album called "Tales Of Rock 'n' Roll where past and present MSG vocalists were featured.
